The disclosure
AIToolsay participates in affiliate programmes. When you click certain links and go on to buy or sign up, the merchant may pay us a commission — usually a percentage of the sale or a flat referral fee.
This disclosure is made under the US Federal Trade Commission's Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising (16 CFR Part 255), and equivalent expectations in the UK, EU and India. It is written to be understood rather than to satisfy a checkbox.
What it costs you
Nothing. An affiliate link is the same price as reaching the merchant any other way. There is no markup, no surcharge, and no worse deal for having arrived through us. Where an affiliate relationship comes with a discount, you get a better price, not a worse one.
How affiliate links are marked
- Any page containing affiliate links carries a notice at the top, before the first one.
- Affiliate links carry
rel="sponsored nofollow", so they pass no ranking signal. - Where a specific recommendation is monetised, the recommendation itself says so.
Not every outbound link is an affiliate link. Most are not — we link to documentation, pricing pages and sources because they are useful, and there is no commission attached to the majority of them.
What a commission does not do
This is the part that matters, and it is the same commitment as our Editorial Policy:
- It does not decide inclusion. Tools are listed because they are relevant, not because they pay.
- It does not decide ranking. A commissionable product does not outrank a better one that pays nothing.
- It does not decide the verdict. We publish unfavourable assessments of products we could earn from, and we recommend products we earn nothing from — routinely.
- It does not hide alternatives. Where a free or cheaper option is the better answer, we say so.
If we ever have to choose between a commission and an honest recommendation, the recommendation wins. A site that gets that backwards stops being worth reading, which also makes it worthless to advertisers.
Why we use affiliate links at all
Every tool on this site is free to use, with no account and no paywall. That has to be funded somehow. Affiliate commission and labelled advertising are how — the alternative would be charging for the tools or selling data, and we would rather do neither.
Things outside our control
- Merchant terms change. Prices, plans, trial lengths and features can change without notice to us. Always confirm on the merchant's own site before buying.
- Their policies apply. Once you follow a link, that merchant's terms, privacy policy and refund rules govern — not ours. Our Refund Policy covers what you buy from us, not from them.
- Cookies. Affiliate tracking usually sets a cookie at the merchant's end. Our Cookies Policy covers what we set; theirs covers what they set.
Opting out
You are never obliged to use our links. Typing the merchant's address directly gets you the same product at the same price with no commission to us, and we would rather say that than pretend otherwise. Blocking third-party cookies also prevents most affiliate tracking.
